In the period 11-13 October 2009 the employees of the Association for Charity and Social Assistance “ACASA” as well as the representatives of the Organizations, members of “ACASA” (Mrs. Maria Calchei, from the Association “Sprijin si Speranta”, Mrs. Marina Calac from the Centre for Early Intervention “Voinicel”, Mrs. Angela Sestacov from the Association “Viitorul”), participated at the SOFT International Conference “Autism and Social Inclusion”, organized by the Foundation “Pentru Voi”, in collaboration with International SOFT Federation, in Timisoara, Romania.

The Foundation “Pentru Voi” is a nongovernmental organization which militates for the rights of persons with disabilities and for the improvement raising their quality of life. 

 

At the conference took part representatives of the International ISF Federation, of the organizations TALANT, Steinmetz de Compaan, the Netherlands, professionals and university professors from The Great Britain from this field of activity, representatives of Parents Associations, the members of the Foundation “Pentru Voi” as well as other persons interested in problems related to autism.
 
In the evening of the 11th October, at the inauguration of the Conference a symphonic concert was organized by the Philharmonic Symphonic Orchestra
 
The Presentation Sessions of the Conference started with the opening remarks of Mrs. Lilia Onu, Director of the Foundation “Pentru Voi”, who later on, made a review about the situation of the adults with Autism from Romania, using as a model the USA, where the autism became a national priority.
 
The Conference was focused on the situation of adults with autism from Romania, taking into discussion the public policies in disability field which, similarly as in the Republic of Moldova, either lack, or are insufficiently elaborated.
 
The representatives from the Netherlands and the Great Britain made a series of practical and useful presentations, taking into consideration the particularities of persons with autism and the model of work with them.
 
Social integration as well as the opportunities for satisfaction of the needs for social integration of the adults with autism was presented by Hans Krober, Board member of SOFT Federation, Manou van Wezel and Hendrike Bos, the representatives of the Steinmetz de Compaan Foundation, offering and explaining, based on Dutch model, solutions for facilitation of social organization and integration.
 
Situation of persons with autism from the Republic of Moldova was presented by Mrs. Marina Calac, pediatrician at the Centre for Early Intervention “Voinicel”.
 
The participation in the ISF Conference generated new ideas, helped to realize the necessity and the importance of new partnership establishments as well as the implementation of new methods of multidimensional approach of the problems related to children with autism, both from psycho-medical and socio-educational perspectives.
