Workshop “The relation between the Beneficiary and Geriatric Care Services Provider” On Friday, November the 13th, 2009 the Workshop “The relation between the Beneficiary and Geriatric Care Service Provider” took place. This workshop aimed at optimization of working methodologies of multidisciplinary teams (social assistants, psychologists and nurses) who activate within the Network of NGOs for Elderly “ACASA”
This activity was chaired by Tatiana Turchina (SUM Lecturer – Psychology). The Association “ACASA” organizes regularly such Workshops for professionals who work in the field of geriatric care who work in day care centers for elderly, residential centers or home care.
The workshop was attended by one representative from each professional group: social assistant, the psychologist and the nurse from the organizations members of the Network of Elderly ACASA, (CRISB “Incredere” – Nisporeni; ONG “Generati PRO” – Olanesti; CSM “Sf. Caetan” – Rascov; CRISB “SOS” – Criuleni; Hospice “Prosperare” – Zubresti; AE “Neoumanist” – Straseni; ONG „Compasiune” – Costesti; ONG “Cutezanta” – Ungheni).
The topic of the Workshop was “The relation between the Beneficiary and Geriatric Care Service Provider; the approach from the psychological perspective”. The main goal of this workshop was the optimization of the relation between the beneficiary and the provider, the main factor for qualitatively provided psychosocial services.
The agenda consisted of the following topics:
- The intergenerational communication. Barriers and defenses in communication.
- Rational-systematic communication. Paradoxical communication
- The “forgiving” phenomenon. Loss and suffering
The activity after this Workshop will be a practical application of the knowledge accumulated during this Workshop. This application will take place within one of the Centers, member of the Network of Elderly “ACASA”. The participants will work on a case of relationship and will elaborate a plan of actions in order to solve the problem related to this case.
The strong sides of the Workshop, following the opinion of the participants at the closing session, were:
- The topics are actual
- The experience exchange
- The open minded participants, the ideas exchange, the constructive dialogue between the participants, non formal atmosphere during the Workshop
- The possibility to find out new information about the new methodology and techniques of work with elderly
- Participation of experienced organizations in provision of geriatric services
- Establishment of potential new future partnerships
